Battling another setback...
 |
| Time for action: Some of the equipment bought by the Back on Track appeal and used at the championships at the weekend. |
FOLLOWING the latest damage done by vandals to the hammer cage net which put in jeopardy the Worcestershire County Track and Field Championships last Saturday, I would like to pay tribute to the parks department at Wyre Forest District Council for their sterling efforts in re-erecting the net on Friday.
It was a jumbled mess on the floor and took a long time to unravel but unravel it they did and eventually it was put up in position.
I would like to say that when I saw the finished product on the Friday evening, it was the best I had ever seen the cage looking.
It was passed by the Field Referee on the Saturday morning as safe for competition and the county event went ahead without a hitch.
I would also like to thank Hire It! for the loan of a generator to run the results computer, a PA system and gas-fired Urn to provide tea and coffee to all, on what was a hot day.
Thanks also to APQ Transport for the loan of a van to transport the equipment, purchased with funds from The Back On Track Appeal, from our lock-up to trackside.
